Freeman Technology manufactures a precision laboratory instrument which is utilised by a wide range of industries around the world for measuring the flow properties of powders.
The primary responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician role are to efficiently perform all tasks relating to our powder testing laboratory as well as provide a contribution to customer support in the form of testing, data interpretation and powder processing issues.
Responsibilities also include supporting sales staff and customer support teams.
The role reports to the Operations Director and functions in parallel with Applications Specialists who provide pre- and post- sales support to users and prospects.
Management and evaluation of powder samples received from potential customers
Testing of prospects’ materials
Liaising with prospects as necessary
Analysing data in relation to the feedback information
Writing detailed reports for the prospect and for Company reference
Using the Company database to manage the laboratory schedule
Efficient management and handling of prospects’ materials including management and disposal of hazardous materials
Test and analysis methods constantly evolve so a major responsibility of this role is to continue that development using a structured scientific approach
Research & Development
Explore opportunities to:
Increase our understanding of powder behaviour by proposing and undertaking relevant research projects
Generate research which will add to the Company’s reference library
Contribute to articles for trade and academic journals
Understanding Powder Processing
Our business is helping to resolve powder handling and processing problems by providing the means to evaluate powder flow properties
This requires us to understand the processes employed used by our customers so a further responsibility is take opportunities to learn from users, prospects and colleagues and apply that knowledge to data interpretation and report writing
Technical Papers, Conferences and Exhibitions
Responsibilities will include writing and managing abstracts and papers based on our own research for publication in relevant journals and presentation at suitable events
