Defining Powder Flowability
Welcome to the first in a series of regular newsletters from Freeman Technology. The challenges of handling and processing powders and measuring powder flowability continue to exercise many people and I hope you will find the items in this issue interesting and helpful - please do let us know. 2004 was a significant year for Freeman Technology with the expansion of our UK facilities, sales, technical and applications teams, and the establishment of new partnerships in the USA and Japan. All helping us serve better our rapidly growing community of customers. For our latest news and developments, click here.

Leading US lab launches new testing service using FT4
At Pittcon 2005 (Feb 28 - Mar 4, 2005; Orlando, USA), leading independent service laboratory, Particle Technology Labs Ltd, based in Chicago, will launch a new powder characterization service using the Freeman Technology FT4 powder rheometer. The lab will also become a demonstration site for the FT4 in North America. Click here for full details.

Powder characterization across industry
The FT4 powder rheometer is used in a wide range of manufacturing industries including pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals, ceramics, powder coatings, toners and personal products. Its applications range from optimizing new formulations and improving the efficiency of the manufacturing processes to the establishment of QC criteria for raw materials, intermediates and final product.

Automated Shear Cell gives extra information
An automated Shear Cell accessory for the FT4 powder rheometer allows existing and new users to assess powders in terms of shear strength. This information is produced in addition to the comprehensive flowability data provided by a standard FT4 measurement, broadening the application of the system. The FT4-shear cell combination is easy to use and delivers extremely reproducible results that are independent of operator. Click here for more information. |

Flow properties of aerated powders
Freeman has launched the first in a new range of 'plug and play' accessories that will fully automate powder flow testing on the FT4 powder rheometer. The automated aeration accessory, for use in measuring the flow properties of aerated powders, will eliminate the need for operator intervention thus removing the major source of measurement variation and error. It is the first in a series of new 'plug and play' accessories designed to bring full automation to all FT4 powder testing processes.
